SIERRA BEE BUZZ

March 2005

BILL GOFF

(775)-851-1888

The MARCH MEETING is scheduled for Monday the 14th at 7:30 PM.
350 Capitol Hill Ave.-Reno, NV; in the Board Room of the Nevada
Dept. of Agriculture Building. (As usual).
The cold and snow of late November shut down the colonies.
And the snows in January and the heavy fog continued this confinement until late February of 2005. The bees finally got out a few days in the third week of February and on the 24-26th they were bringing in pollen. Probably from elm or maple. So you can be assured the queens are laying _the first brood cycles now. This has been a much colder winter than the four previous ones. I have noticed little winter kill or die-off in front of the hives. So,it is time to prepare for your early spring inspections.
